Who we are

Curtain Twitch is operated by Felstead Commercial Ltd. We help you understand what is changing around you using public information. For privacy questions or requests, email admin@felcom.uk.

When you search

We use the postcode you enter, its approximate map location and your search settings to find nearby records. We do not ask for your name, household details or your device’s precise location. A postcode identifies an area, not an exact property boundary.

We temporarily keep search results so we can answer repeat searches without making unnecessary requests to public services. Reports may be reused for five minutes. If a source stops responding, we may show a clearly dated previous result for up to 24 hours. We never use an old flood-warning result as a substitute for a failed current check. Planning source copies can be kept for up to 90 days, with expired copies removed on the next access or daily cleanup. We keep copies of public schools, transport and parks datasets until they are replaced or the service closes.

What stays on your device

When you save a watch, your chosen postcode, settings and copies of public records stay in your browser. Remove them in My Watches or clear this website’s data in your browser. Saved watches do not sign you up for email.

Report comparison history covers up to 20 postcodes and 60 planning records per postcode. It expires after 90 days and is removed when you next use the feature; older entries may be removed sooner if storage is full. Other explorer copies and settings remain until you clear the site’s data. Record copies can include public site addresses, proposals, references and decisions. We do not deliberately collect applicants’ contact details.

Reports and watch lists you download remain on your device until you delete them. We use browser storage to provide these features and manage requests. We do not use advertising cookies or visitor-tracking analytics.

Where the information comes from

We use Postcodes.io to locate postcodes; HM Land Registry for recorded sales; Planning Data for planning restrictions; Police.uk for published crime statistics; and the Environment Agency for flood information. Councils and PlanIt supply planning records. We send the relevant postcode, coordinates or search query to the service needed to answer your request.

These independent services receive connection information. Requests made by our website’s server use Cloudflare’s connection. Where a feature makes a request directly from your browser, the provider can also see your IP address. We identify our automated planning requests using our operator contact address. We do not send visitor email addresses to these data sources.

Around Your Home searches our own copies of Department for Education, Department for Transport and Ordnance Survey data. Your postcode is not sent to those publishers for these searches.

If you choose to load a street map, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address, the map area requested and our website’s origin. Opening an official record or external map takes you to that provider’s website and its own privacy notice. Location links can include map coordinates.

Hosting and security

Cloudflare hosts our website, databases and stored planning copies. It handles connection information such as your IP address, the page or service requested, browser information and request time to deliver and protect the website.

To limit excessive requests, we convert your IP address into a protected identifier that changes daily. Short-term request limits use this identifier. We do not store raw IP addresses in our application database. Our daily request counter stores only a date and total; the previous day’s total is replaced on the next request. People sharing an internet connection may share a request limit.

We do not keep application request logs. Cloudflare also handles its own operational and security records under its service terms and privacy policy. Cloudflare processes information internationally; we do not promise that every item remains in the UK. Where a processor transfers personal information abroad, applicable data-protection safeguards are required.

Emails and enquiries

Email alerts are not available yet. We do not currently collect visitor email addresses for alerts or send alert messages. Resend is our selected alert delivery provider, but no visitor email addresses or message content are being sent to it. We will explain how alerts work and update this notice before accepting subscriptions. Email open and click tracking are disabled.

If you email admin@felcom.uk, we use your email address, message and any information you choose to include to handle your enquiry. Our mailbox is hosted by Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online). We keep website enquiry emails for two years after the enquiry is resolved, then delete them. Please only include information we need to help you.

Why we use this information

We rely on our legitimate interests in answering your searches and enquiries, providing the features you request, protecting the website and reducing unnecessary requests to public services. We consider those interests alongside your privacy rights. We do not sell your personal information or use it to make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us for access to personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict its use or to consider an objection. In some circumstances you also have a right to receive information in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. These rights depend on the circumstances.

Contact admin@felcom.uk. We may need enough information to confirm we are dealing with the right person. Browser-only information can be removed using My Watches, the report history controls or your browser’s site-data settings. Deleting a local copy does not change an official council or government record.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your information is handled. We will update this notice when the service changes.
